The Rusty Parrot Lodge: Cozy by Design

There is a particular pleasure in returning to a warm, welcoming room after a day spent exploring Jackson Hole, settling into a plush bed and watching the flames dance in a fireplace as the sun sets behind the Tetons. At the Rusty Parrot Lodge & Spa, comfort is in the design philosophy and woven into the architecture.

Following a devastating fire in November 2019, the family-owned property was rebuilt in 2024 with a fresh architectural vision. Designed by Colorado-based Rowland+Broughton in collaboration with Jackson’s own WRJ Design, the rebuilt lodge honors its roots while embracing the future.

The Warmth of Authentic Western Design

Western design has always drawn inspiration from the environment. Wood, stone, natural textures, and regional artwork connect a space to the landscape beyond its walls. The lodge’s three-story, gabled structure exemplifies this visual language, taking inspiration from historic mountain lodges to blur the boundary between indoors and out.

What elevates the space from simply beautiful to genuinely soulful is its artwork. The collection at the Rusty Parrot includes pieces salvaged from the original lodge alongside new works by local artists. This mixture connects the rebuilt property to both its history and its community, making the renewed property feel lived-in and well-established despite the all-new construction.

A Fireside Haven

In the guest rooms, every detail is orchestrated to encourage slowing down. In the King Fireplace Balcony Rooms, a flickering gas fireplace establishes a natural focal point, encouraging guests to settle in rather than treat the room as merely a place to sleep. Balcony rooms extend the experience outdoors, offering fresh mountain air and a closer connection to the surrounding town of Jackson. Inside, deep-soaking bathtubs and king beds dressed in custom Italian linens transform simple routines into restorative rituals.

Not every guest room includes a fireplace or balcony, so travelers hoping for these features should confirm their room category when booking. But for all guests, the lodge’s shared spaces cultivate a gentle sense of community. The quiet library invites guests to read over hot coffee or tea. The outdoor hot tub and elevated deck provide a front-row seat to starry Wyoming nights.

The Luxury of Unhurried Time

After a day spent enjoying Jackson Hole’s rugged trails, swift rivers, and abundant wildlife, the lodge offers a sanctuary when the day’s adventure draws to a close. Ultimately, the reimagined Rusty Parrot demonstrates the peak of thoughtful mountain hospitality. Heavy timber and local stone ground you in the region while curated art preserves local identity, and high-end furnishings and amenities create an atmosphere of total comfort.

Whether your evening calls for a fireside drink, a quiet soak, or simply breathing in the crisp night air, the atmosphere invites you to settle in at a pace that suits you.
