3-Day Winter Itinerary

3-Day Winter Itinerary

Every year, winter in Jackson coats the valley in fluffy drifts of snow. The peaks don their white caps, the rivers freeze in the flats, and the stars become so clear they seem close enough to touch. Whether your days are filled with mountain adventure or moments of stillness by the fire, the Rusty Parrot offers the perfect home base for experiencing it all. With daily ski shuttles, gourmet dining at the Wild Sage, and easy access to the shops and galleries on the town square, you’ll enjoy the best of Jackson Hole’s winter magic without ever being far from the comfort of your room.

Popular winter activities like skiing and dog sledding book up quickly, so plan early to ensure your perfect itinerary.

Day 1

  • Begin the morning with breakfast in the Wild Sage. Fuel up and savor a mug of locally roasted coffee before catching the Rusty Parrot’s daily ski shuttle to the mountain. The snow in Jackson is famously light and dry, making for some of the best skiing available anywhere. The slopes offer something for every skier, from steep chutes to gentle groomers winding through glades of pine and everything in between.
  • After a full day in the powder, return to the lodge for après-ski at the Wild Sage Bar. Warm up with a craft cocktail beside the stone fireplace, then unwind in the outdoor hot tub as the last light fades from the Tetons.
  • For the perfect recovery, slip into the Body Sage Spa for a massage designed to ease ski-weary muscles. If you’re traveling with a partner, share a couple’s session that leaves you both restored for the days ahead.

Day 2

  • Step (or slide) into the quieter side of Jackson’s winter. Cross-country skis are your ticket to Jackson’s amazing winter stillness, gliding your way along the trail that winds from Taggart Lake to Signal Mountain. The Tetons rise directly above, making excellent photo opportunities.
  • Return to town for a late lunch and spend the afternoon exploring the art galleries and boutiques that surround the Town Square. The ability to slip easily between wilderness and local charm is one of the great advantages of staying in town rather than at the ski area.
  • In the evening, settle by the library’s fireplace or take a seat at the chess table, watching the snowflakes drift through the courtyard.

Day 3

  • Cap your stay with something truly unforgettable: a dog sledding adventure through the canyons north of town or the Bridger-Teton National Forest in the south. The rush of the sled over the snow, the rhythm of the dogs running, and the quiet of the wilderness combine into an experience unlike any other.
  • Back at the lodge, enjoy one final soak in the hot tub before dinner. The Wild Sage’s winter menu celebrates Jackson’s most famous season with rich flavors, hearty dishes, and ingredients that reflect the landscape outside your window.
