Sleigh Rides

sleigh rideAfter a hard day of winter fun, it’s hard to imagine a more perfect ending than a peaceful sleigh ride that ends in a dinner by firelight. Imagine sitting in wrapped blankets while powerful horses pull you over pristine snow, while anticipating the joy of sitting at a table covered in a delicious meal.

Three nearby areas offer this unique adventure. Mill Iron Ranch is famous for its inch and a quarter T-Bone steak, and dining there offers the opportunity to see a genuine, old fashioned western ranch. Solitude Cabin at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort sits atop an alpine trail in Teton Village and specializes in four course meals of beef tenderloin or prawns. Enjoy it while listening to live entertainment. Spring Creek Ranch offers incredible views of the valley and the Grand Tetons on top of the East Gros Ventre Butte. The ride lasts 45 minutes and is completed by a meal at the Granary Restaurant.

If you’d rather experience the thrill of a sleigh ride while the sun’s still out, the local ride to the National Elk Refuge is an extremely popular activity. In winter, the refuge is home to approximately 7,000 elk, and knowledgeable guides will give you the historic background of the Jackson elk herd. Learn more about the wildlife while experiencing a piece of history.
